Dr. Sadayuki Abeta, Chief Open RAN Strategist at NTT DOCOMO and CTO of OREX SAI, is a distinguished leader in advancing the global Open RAN ecosystem to meet the evolving needs of customers and service providers. Since joining NTT DOCOMO in 1997, Dr. Abeta has played a pivotal role in the research, standardization, and development of key mobile technologies, including UMTS/W-CDMA, HSPA, LTE, LTE-Advanced, and 5G. From 2005 to 2009, Dr. Abeta served as Vice Chairman of 3GPP TSG-RAN WG1 and was the rapporteur for LTE and LTE-Advanced, contributing significantly to the evolution of mobile network standards. Between 2018 and 2022, he led the Radio Access Network Development Department at NTT DOCOMO, overseeing the development of LTE, 5G, X-haul, and satellite communications. Dr. Abeta holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Communication Engineering from Osaka University, Japan, and is widely recognized for his expertise and leadership in shaping the future of mobile communications.
