Group Technology – VP Cloud Technologies at Deutsche Telekom AG

Kai Steuernagel has held various positions inside and outside of Deutsche Telekom - in product management, software architecture, target costing and many more. His current position is Chapter Lead and VP for Cloud Technologies within Deutsche Telekom Group Technology. When he speaks about “cloud” in this current role, he means the “NT” or “Telco” cloud, where for example the 5G core is deployed. This comes with very specific requirements i. e. regarding networking but also reliability, data privacy and security. And it comes with a different datacenter distribution, which can be seen as “edge cloud”. His involvement also includes the Co-Chair function in the governance board of the Sylva open-source project and alignments with IPCEI-CIS and other cloud related projects of the EU commission.
