Mohammad R. Shikh-Bahaei is a Professor of Telecommunications in the Department of Engineering at King’s College London, with 30 years of research experience in wireless communications spanning both academia and industry. He began his career working with start-up companies on statistical signal processing, interference cancellation and wireless network optimisation, before joining National Semiconductor Corp. (now part of Texas Instruments) in the USA, where he contributed to the design of 3G UMTS handsets. He joined King’s College London in 2002 and is now a full Professor, as well as Director of the Digital Twins Lab for Communication and Healthcare Technologies, where he leads and contributes to a range of interdisciplinary research projects.

His research has covered distributed AI, full-duplex communications, network sensing, semantic communication, edge computing and digital twins. His current research focuses on emerging technologies for 6G and beyond, with particular emphasis on their applications in healthcare. He has advised leading technology companies on wireless communication standards and technologies and has led and contributed to numerous nationally and internationally funded research projects. He is president of one6G association, and its chair of working group 1.
