Antonio Alvaro Montis PalosTelecommunications Venue Manager at Fira de BarcelonaSpeaker
Profile
I am a Telecommunications Engineer with more than 20 years of experience in network architecture, IT project management, and telecommunications venue management, and I hold a Master’s degree in Networks and Telecommunications Services from Universitat Ramon Llull.
I began my career at ONO as a Senior Engineer for voice and data services, later moving to Telefónica Soluciones to manage IT operations for Globalia. In 2008 I joined Fira de Barcelona Project as network administrator, and from 2011 I led IT project management and network architecture for the venue, working on events such as the Mobile World Congress. Since 2019, I have served as Telecommunications Venue Manager.
My team’s mission is to deliver the best wired and wireless connectivity experience for exhibitors and event organizers at Fira Barcelona. I’m responsible for the connectivity investments and the deployment of network services and I lead the venues’ Digitalization Plan, selecting and coordinating our technology providers and ensuring the security, capacity, and availability of the communications network across every event we host.
Fira Barcelona is one of the world’s top 10 largest event venues and hosts some of the most important technology events, including MWC, ISE, ICE, and SCEWC, among many others. Today, Fira Barcelona hosts more than 250 events and congresses each year, generating an economic impact of over €4.7 billion for Barcelona and the surrounding area.
