Profile
Born in Ghana, Robert AOUAD studied law and cinematography in France. He started his career as a media reporter in France, and then moved to United States to work in the film industry. Robert returned to Africa in 1995 to become an entrepreneur in Benin, where he amassed extensive experience in consumer goods distribution and technology services. In 2000, he created a company specializing in the marketing of GSM products. This was his first step in telecommunications, a field he has become passionate about. As such, as a self-learner, he took several initiatives to broaden his knowledge in this field. He always had the vision to promote better access to the Internet, especially for young people and low-income populations. He is the main promoter of ISOCEL Telecom, which became the leading private Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Benin. A success story recognized by numerous awards won by ISOCEL. Robert has held the presidency of several regional platforms in the telecom sector such as BENIN ACE J.V. and COFTEL. He is a regular keynote speaker at industry conferences such as the Africa CEO Forum, AfricaCom, Capacity Africa, GITEX, the FTTH Council, Benin Investment Forum and many more.
