João Freitas has been passionate about technology since childhood, beginning with coding at age 13 and later earning academic merit in Computer Engineering. His career started as an assistant lecturer and researcher before moving into telecommunications with Altice, Vodafone, and Deutsche Telekom. Today, João is Head of Software Strategy at Kaon Broadband, shaping product roadmaps and leading architectural innovation. He also serves as chairman of the prpl Foundation’s LCM and HL-API working groups, actively contributing to open-source communities and standards such as USP/TR-369 and TR-181. Beyond work, João enjoys experimenting with Raspberry Pis, 3D printing, and smart home projects.
