Jonathan Knight demonstrated the first photonic crystal fiber in 1996 and the first hollow-core fiber in 1999. He has researched in this area continuously since that time. He is a Professor in Physics at the University of Bath and a Fellow of the Optical Society of America and of the Royal Society
