With over two decades of experience in the telecoms industry, John is a specialist in in-home connectivity in the broadest sense. Starting in quality assurance and engineering, he has transitioned into architecture and strategy. John worked on the introduction of technologies such as DOCSIS 3.0, 3.1, IPv6 for residential customers and IPTV, as well as on projects around community WiFi, latency reduction and video set top box connectivity.John's main focus for the past decade has been on getting awareness of, control over and taking responsibility for connections within the home, starting with the first residential gateways offering NAT routing, standalone WiFi and managed WiFi, and extenders beyond those gateways leveraging Ethernet, WiFi, powerline and or MoCA, as well as management systems for them based on SNMP, TR.069, OpenSync and EasyMesh. Currently John is architecting the CPE side of XGS-PON and DOCSIS 4 development and deployment within VodafoneZIggo, making sure the conclusions of his Future In-Home Connectivity whitepaper remain relevant and acted upon and consulting on CPE aspects of legal®ulatory, sustainability and privacy questions.
