Dr Christopher Janz

Dr. Christopher Janz is Director of the Advanced Optical Technology Lab in the Huawei Canada Research Centre. His team conducts research in optical materials and components, optical transmission systems, and network software. He is a long-standing industry contributor on SDN and network automation topics.

Chris has 30 years of industry experience in roles including primary research, R&D management, product line management and strategic marketing. He holds a B.Eng. in engineering physics from the Royal Military College of Canada, a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Alberta and an M.B.A. from Queen's University. He has worked at Ciena, Alcatel and other companies.
